Otto Bock Russia

Andrey Kostin, the deputy director of Otto Bock Group in Russia reports:

“1C-Rarus specialists have automated both manufacturing and trading business areas where the company operates. That has provided an opportunity to perform work in the unified database. The plant was put in operation with the use of the new information system, manufactures products in accordance with the term specified by customers and in required quantity.

We have managed to achieve one most important goal during the adjustment of the system i.e., compute accounting in conformity with Russian legislation and simultaneously form necessary reports according to corporate standards developed by the front-office.”

1C-Rarus specialists have automated both manufacturing and sales business areas where the Russian Representative Office of the world’s Podiatric manufacturer operates. A chosen industry solution “1C:Manufacturing Enterprise Management 8” has allowed Otto Bock Company to carry out analyses on current and seasonal needs in materials which are necessary for the production of ordered goods. The solution helps serve incoming orders for fabrication and calculate possible volume of product manufacturing from available stock. Today thanks to the solution “1C:Manufacturing Enterprise Management” 180 item names are being produced and the output volume is 2 500 items a month.

Otto Bock Company is the largest world manufacturer of innovative products for people with disabilities. It has subsidiaries in 36 companies all over the world and supplies its goods to 140 countries. Otto Bock has been working in Russia since 1989. The company has taken an evident position in the Russian market and nowadays it is one of the leading suppliers of orthopaedic goods, rehabilitation equipment as well as components, materials and equipment for prosthetic and orthopaedic production.

In summer 2011 the company opened its first Russian plant in Tolyatti, which work hard to be organized at the highest level. Otto Bock directors decided to create an information system which could integrate both manufacturing and trading business areas. The company was seeking for an industry solution that was able to:

  • form real-time orders for suppliers and control material supplies for organizations of end-to-end manufacture;
  • carry out real-time placing in property on the ground of invoices from a foreign supplier;
  • transfer materials for handling customers’ orders to production as quick as necessary;
  • calculate the first cost of the output;
  • monitor orders for production;
  • regulate shipment to customers.

Initially when the project was at a head start, Otto Bock’s personnel used “1C: Enterprise 7.7”. And it was decised to transfer to the modern platform “1C: Manufacturing Enterprise Management 8”. 1C-Rarus Company was brought in to realize the project.

As a part of the project, management of the manufacturing plant in Tolyatti, procurement and sales departments, HR and accounts departments have been automated. Today approximately 40 employees use this system.

The result of the project in different business areas:

Manufacturing

  • The analyses of current and seasonal needs in materials which are demanded for the production of ordered goods are being carried out. Supplies of materials take place in time. It helps organize the end-to-end manufacturing without any time and finance waste.
  • The management of incoming orders for fabrication and calculation of possible volume of product manufacturing from available stock have been processed. Today the plant brings out 2 5000 items a month and in the nearest time the output volume is going to be increased by 4 5000 items a month.

Purchases and Sales

  • Data exchange with the exterior accounting systems which are used by suppliers in Germany has been customized. It allows forming orders to the German suppliers automatically and tracking their actual status including information about delivery.
  • A comfortable and functional workplace for a sales manager and a logistician has been created.

Warehouse

  • The system of address keeping has been implemented into the just built cellular warehouse.
  • That has allowed storing more materials and finished products in less areas.
  • The circulation of storage has been increased. It has shortened the capacity of stored materials.
  • The process of shipping goods to customers has been automated. That has shortened time to prepare documents. Customers do not wait until the required documents are ready. They get the goods and all necessary documents almost immediately after their arrival.

Andrey Kostin, the deputy director of Otto Bock Group Company in Russia,  comments on the results of the project:

1C-Rarus specialists have automated both manufacturing and trading business areas where the company operates. That has provided an opportunity to perform work in the unified database. The plant put on operation with the use of the new information system, manufactures products in accordance with the term specified by customers and in required quantity.

We have managed to achieve one more important goal during the adjustment of the system i.e., compute accounting in conformity with Russian legislation and simultaneously form necessary reports according to corporative standards developed by the front-office. We hope that we will be able not only to resolve current issues but also to develop actively, coping with new business areas.
